The Powermatic R100: the only jamb-mounted concealed door closer with Certifire certification
For mental health institutions, care homes, social housing, education facilities and other public buildings, the use of fire safety products and components is essential. This is a critical element of modern day construction.
Particularly in spaces where vulnerable people regularly visit or are housed, robust fire safety strategies provide peace of mind to all specifiers, contractors and users.
Samuel Heath has been a market leader in the development and supply of jamb-mounted door closers for over sixty years. Our concealed door closers are found in many mental health institutions, care homes, social housing properties, hotels and other settings across the UK.
Fire safety is a key factor in our product designs. The Samuel Heath Powermatic R100 is the only jamb-mounted concealed door closer that has passed the rigorous process of being awarded a Certifire certification. This demonstrates its reputation for exceptional fire performance and reliability.
What is Certifire?
Certifire is a passive fire product certification that assures the fire safety properties and reliability of certified products. Passive fire products such as doors, windows and insulation prevent the spread of fire, as opposed to active fire protection products such as alarms and sprinkler systems that require action.
The Certifire brand is recognised globally by regulatory authorities as a mark of the fire safety performance of passive fire products.
For specifiers such as architects, contractors and decision-makers involved in the construction or refurbishment of public buildings and care facilities, a Certifire certification provides peace of mind that a product has been tested and approved by a highly reputable, independent body. This, in turn, gives regulators and end users confidence in the declared performance of the product.
For Samuel Heath and the specifiers we work with, the Certifire endorsement is the point of difference for the Powermatic R100 when compared to competitor non-certified jamb-mounted concealed door closer products.
Benefits of the Powermatic R100 Certifire certification for specifiers
Rigorous process
A Certifire certificate is awarded based on supporting data, technical justifications, a scope of approval, stringent testing and the results of a factory production control (FPC) audit. This comprehensive process that encompasses a wide range of procedures gives the Powermatic R100 the essential fire safety credentials that specifiers need.
Stringent testing
Certifire products are tested stringently to ensure they provide the quality and performance necessary to meet international fire safety standards. During the FPC audit, quality control systems are checked, and products are tested, including the selection at random of product from stock which is sent to a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) approved [Cp1] test house for independent verification. This is in addition to the standard testing requirement of the CE and UKCA marks (explained below).
Traceability
The Certifire scheme requires that the manufacturing process, from the sourcing of materials to assembly, is fully documented to ensure compliance with the certification requirements. This provides full traceability and transparency of the Powermatic R100’s fire safety manufacturing process.
International third party verification
Verification of the fire safety of the Powermatic R100 by Certifire, an internationally renowned and completely independent certification body, provides assurance to all stakeholders of its fire safety performance.
